Rustic Woodland Christmas Table Decorations with Buffalo Check

Hosting a large family dinner doesn’t have to be complicated.  Every year we host my husband’s side of the family for a Christmas dinner.  Since we have small children, it is easier for us to host and not have to travel.  I take much joy in setting the table for dinner and adding in all the details.  Much more than the actual cooking part.  This buffalo check woodland table decorations has to be my favorite so far.  I have a tinsy obsession with buffalo check.

Woodland Theme

Bring the outside elements in to create a rustic tablescape. The deer, fox, and other natural elements make this theme.  Use pine cones, winter green branches, wood accents and other things you can find outside too.  There is just something relaxing about being in nature.

Centerpiece

During a recent ladies’ night out, I made this wooden centerpiece from one of those DIY wood workshops.  It worked perfectly for the centerpiece.  I filled it candles, burlap, and greenery.  Down the middle of the table, I laid pine branches that I picked up from a local floral shop.  It smelled amazing too.  The final details were a couple white deer and champagne gold berry lights.

Place Settings

The secret to an inexpensive upgrade from an everyday table setting is to simply purchase festive salad plates.  These buffalo check plates came from Pier 1.  We stack those on our everyday white to add that extra pop.  I rented the wooden chargers from a local party rental company.  Don’t wreck your budget purchasing tons of decorations, instead rent them for a minimal fee.  The Christmas tree wine glasses were on extreme clearance at Pier 1 after the holidays.  I couldn’t pass them up.

In the end, what it really comes down to is the blessing that we can enjoy each other’s company for the holidays.  Full disclosure, outside of a few appetizers that we make, the rest of the meal is catered Italian food.  Halfway homemade is the way to go.  Tell me your favorite way to celebrate the holidays?
