How to Throw an EPIC Video Game Birthday Party

Are you ready to get your game on?  Help your gamer level up with this fun video game party.  If you have boys, then I’m willing to bet that they are into video games.  The names Fortnite and Mincreaft probably come to mind as well as Xbox or Nintendo.

So if you are planning a video game party, then look no further.  I’ll be sharing all the details to help make your next party a winner.

GEAR UP

Suit up your favorite birthday kid in a fun shirt to celebrate their special day.  This level up shirt was found on Etsy from Your Day Clothing. My son loved it and wanted to wear it everyday.

VIP ACCESS

Give all the gamers VIP access badges to the game zones with these fun lanyards.  Of course this is optional but it adds that special touch.  These awesome light up lanyards were purchased from Amazon.  The lights were perfect for the darker gaming rooms.  All the badges were part of a printable party package online from Etsy that included everything including invitations, banners, cupcake toppers, chip bag covers, favor tags, water bottle labels, and even juice pouch labels.  There were so many cool items in this collection that I have never used before.

FOR THE WIN

You can pick from several entertainment options from gaming at home to renting a video game truck.  For this party, the main attraction was playing virtual reality at Spectrum Virtual Reality Arcade.  This is fun for all ages, even my 3 year old played and my 40 year old hubby.  We can’t wait to go back for a date night.

We rented the party space with the double headsets and added on two more rooms with one headset each.  It was a total of 4 headsets and it worked out great to give everyone tons of playing time.  Each kid could pick from over 80 different games and those not playing could watch them play on the TV.

POWER UP

Refuel your gamers with some snacks and treats sure to keep their power levels up.  At Spectrum Virtual Reality Arcade, you are allowed to bring in your own food.  We opted for chips, popcorn, jello, fruit skewers, and then ordered pizza for delivery.  All the coordinating labels were part of the printable party package that I purchased from Etsy.  My cricut was also put to good use cutting out game controller shapes for popcorn bowls, favor water bottles, and even table scatter.

There was even a private area with tables and chairs for the party guests to enjoy their food and drinks.

CELEBRATION STATION

Nothing says a birthday party quite like cake!  The birthday boy helped pick out his own cake this time.  Halls Takes the Cake always does a phenomenal job on all our cakes.  Most of the decorations including the balloons, metallic curtain, and lime dish cups came from Shindigz.  They have some of the most trendy party supplies and I am already dreaming about the decorations for our next party.

To get that WOW factor, I displayed several of the food items on acrylic stands from Amazon then put a set of green fairy lights under each one.  Voila!

MULTIPLAYER PHOTO OP

Grab a prop and strike a pose on the selfie wall. Spectrum Virtual Reality has a selfie wall that was perfect. I found these personalized photo props on Etsy from Speedy Orders.  Then added this fun photo frame from Paper Blast on Amazon. Finally, I finished off my props with a trip to the dollar store.

GAME OVER

When it’s game over, send your guests home with party favors sure to make everyone feel like a winner.  Here is the list of the party loot for each kid.

Celebrating my kids and seeing the smile on their face makes all the extra time and energy worth it.  I love adding those extra touches that create the WOW factor.  My boys have never done the virtual reality before but now they keep asking to go back.  Spectrum Virtual Reality Arcade was definitely a huge hit with the kids and we recommend it for your next birthday party.  Share in comments, your favorite game to play with VR?
