In between attending church and hunting for eggs, celebrate Easter with a family brunch or dinner.  Whether you are hosting family or just having a meal at home, planning an Easter meal doesn’t have to be overwhelming.  Start by setting out an adorable bunny cake as a centerpiece and add in some of your newly decorated eggs to your decor.  Read on for some more fun decorating ideas and festive meal recipes for your table.

Planning is key

Easter can be a jammed packed day between attending church services and checking out what the Easter bunny left behind.  If hosting, check with your guests to see what time works best.  Our meal started with the intent for a brunch but ended up as a dinner.  That is life with 3 kids and nap times.  Another tip is to plan out your menu in advance so you have plenty of time to shop or for us ‘ClickList’.  Again 3 kids in a grocery store, enough said.

Creating the mood

Setting the table doesn’t have to be extravagant.  We actually used several serving dishes that we already owned and supplemented with some fun themed salad plates from Pier 1.  Salad plates have been my go to lately in designing a place setting.  There were so many awesome choices at Pier 1 this season that I couldn’t decide on just one.  So, now I have one set for our kitchen island seating and one set for our tablescape.  Those bunny ear plates caught my eye in the store and I knew I wasn’t going home without them.  Fresh flowers from your local grocery store are also a good way to decorate for Easter.  Throw in some bunnies and table scatter, then you are all set!

Preparing fun themed dishes

Let’s start with the dessert shall we?  I know your momma always said to save the dessert for last but look at this awesome cake from Halls Takes the Cake.  It was actually a lemon flavored cake and to die for.  The cake was made to look like a naked cake and the topper was very simple with gold pipe cleaners as bunny ears and fresh flowers.  Next up are these adorable themed cookies.  The personalized cookies were used as a name place holder and the extras were displayed on a simple dish.  Sweet Girly Girl Cookies has always done a great job for me and I have ordered her cookies several times.

Now back to the main dishes, we made things simple by ordering Honey Baked Ham along with several side dishes from a sweet potato casserole to dinner rolls.  Super easy and good!  I also served a cute carrot shaped cheese ball, carrots in ranch cups, corn on the cob, deviled eggs, peep fruit kabobs, and orange chocolate covered strawberries in homemade chocolate pudding.  Sounds amazing right?

Try not to get stressed about the meal and it will all come together.  The most important thing is spending time with family.  What is your favorite dishes to make on Easter?  Comment below so I can add new items to our menu for next year.

Happy Easter!
