Love Buckets for Valentine’s Day

There are baskets for Easter, stockings for Christmas, trick or treat bags for Halloween and Valentine’s just seemed like it was missing something.  What about Valentine’s Day??  So I scrolled the internet to find something, anything to fill that void.  I stopped scroll on love buckets.  The ones that I saw were just plain but a light bulb went off in my head.  Surprising I know.  I took the idea and ran with it.

If you are feeling the post Christmas blues and the next holiday is just not measuring up, then start a new tradition of Love Buckets for Valentine’s Day.

HOW IT WORKS

Each kid gets their own bucket or pail.  We used galvanized metal buckets from Pottery Barn Kids.  They don’t sell them anymore but I found an equivalent on Amazon.  Although, feel free to use anything that you want.  I then got out my handy dandy Cricut machine and cut permanent vinyl to decorate the outside.  I personalized the front and just added ‘Be My Valentine’ to the back.  Voila!

WHAT TO PUT INSIDE

On Valentine’s Day, I bring these buckets out alongside our Valentine themed meal.  This year, we had a superhero breakfast.  See all the super fun here at Superhero Valentine’s Day Family Breakfast.  We fill the buckets with small gifts and candy.  Some gift ideas include coloring books, markers, puzzles, play-doh, books, legos, games, or just about anything that they are in to.  I just make sure it fits into the  bucket.  This helps keep me accountable and from going overboard.  Because that NEVER happens!

Make sure you check out my other Valentine’s Day posts from a countdown with adorable mailboxes and creative school Valentines.  These are guaranteed to add a little fun to your holiday.  What do you do for Valentine’s Day with your family?  Leave me a note in the comments.
