Valentine’s Day Candy Charcuterie Board

Charcuterie boards are all the rage lately and can be made for just about any occasion that you can dream up.  A Valentine’s Day charcuterie board is super easy to make and great for the whole family.  We made up a board with all our boys’ favorite treats and sweets for them to enjoy after school on Valentine’s Day.  There was so much that we shared with family and friends too.  This would be great to take to a party or galentine’s event.

Valentine’s Day Dessert Board

Spread some love this Valentine’s Day with this easy to recreate charcuterie board.  I knew when I saw these boards that I had to make one.  The main inspiration for the board was these heart shaped bowls mixed in the middle.  The bowls can hold smaller items or dips.  Then I just shopped the holiday sections and bakery of several different stores to get desserts that fit the theme.  The goal is to have a variety of items with different textures and colors that match the overall look and feel of the board.

What To Add To Your Dessert Board

Cookies –  make some sugar cookies with pink or red sprinkles or simply check the bakery section of your local grocery store for holiday themed options.  Macaroons are also a crowd favorite.

Candy – there is no shortage of candy for this holiday from colored m&ms, sweet tarts, gummy candy, and chocolates.  Use a variety of shapes and sizes to spread across the dessert board.

Marshmallows – find heart shaped and strawberry marshmallows in the baking isle of most stores.  I think my kids could eat a whole bag in one sitting if I let them.

Chocolate Covered Fruit and Sweets – make your own chocolate covered strawberries, pretzels, cookies, and more.  My favorite to use is Gharedelli dark chocolate.  Simply dip each item in chocolate then add sprinkles or drizzle with white chocolate.  My go to place for sprinkles is Country Kitchen Sweettart.

Fruit –  add some color to your board with fresh fruit like red raspberries, strawberries, red grapes, blueberries, kiwi, dragon fruit and papaya.

Dips – in a dessert charcuterie board, you may want to add dips like Nutella, peanut butter, whipped cream or a yogurt dip. This pairs well with graham crackers, waffle cookies, or fresh fruit.

How To Assemble

Don’t over think this part, the goal is to make your board look full.  For me, I prefer to fill in all the open spaces while mixing textures and colors.  There really is no wrong way to do this.  Simply start by adding each item in small groups around the board.  You can follow a pattern or just go with it.  I do however take extra time to line up and position each piece just right.  Get creative and have fun with it.

This Valentine’s Day board is definitely on the sweeter side of most boards. Some traditional boards included both meats and cheeses.  I can’t wait to try this with another holiday or family gathering.
