Ultimate Halloween on the High Seas Guide on Disney Cruise Line

Cruising with Disney in September or October means you will have a spook-tacular experience as the ship is decked out with all things Halloween. From the Pumpkin tree in the atrium to the jack-o-lantern port holes, it is a ghoulishly good time for the whole family.

Besides themed nights like pirate night, there are other Halloween activities offered on the ship during Halloween on the High Seas.  Some of the events include the story time at the Pumpkin Tree and Mickey’s Mouse-quarade party.  I will highlight some of them to be sure not to miss.

The Pumpkin Tree

Typically on the first night, the caretaker of the tree will share a story of the tree.  During the tale, the tree comes to life and lights up all the pumpkins.  Be sure to make some time to snap a picture in front of it during your cruise.

Mickey’s Mouse-querade Party

On this frightfully fun night that your ship celebrates Halloween, there is a party with a character performance and trick or treating.  There are also several photo opps with your favorite characters in their Halloween attire.  This typically occurs twice in the evening and you attend based on your dinner seating time.  Arrive early in the atrium on deck 3 for a good spot or hang out on deck 4 and 5 to watch from above.  Characters will be available to take photos on Deck 4 before and after the performance.  Trick or treating can be done before and after the show on decks 3, 4, and 5 with a total of 5 stations.  One pro tip is to bring your own Halloween trick or treat bags because the ones they give you are plastic and small.  Disney also provides allergy free options too.  The cast members are VERY generous in giving hand fulls of candy.  Don’t believe me, ask my son who carried the backpack full of 15 lbs of candy home on the plane.

Tim Burton’s the Nightmare Before Christmas

After Mickey’s Mouse-querade party, there is a special interactive viewing of the Nightmare Before Christmas Sing and Scream.  Another pro tip that wasn’t announced in our navigator was that Jack and Sally come out after the show in the preludes for a meet and greet.  Of course since our family costumes were from the movie, we had to meet them and take a photo.  I love how all the characters play their parts so well and never break character.

Halloween Isn’t Just For Kids

If you didn’t already know, Disney Cruises are not just for kids. Dance your way into the night in the adult entertainment district.  Wear your costume and participate in to costume contests for adults only.

Haunted Stories at Sea

Join a mysterious sea captain on the pool deck for a spooky story time sure to give you goosebumps.  The stories are of legends who once sailed the high seas many moons ago.  Don’t worry the stories aren’t so spooky that your kids won’t sleep that night.

Halloween Craft Time

Tons of Halloween themed activities are available in all the kid and youth clubs throughout the day.  Some examples are pumpkin carving, Halloween face painting, and other Halloween animation cells.  Keep in mind that some of these activities require you to register in advance. Check your navigator for times.

Halloween Disney Movies

Movies are playing non stop all day on the ship both on funnel vision located on the pool deck and in your stateroom.  Jump in one of the two pools and enjoy your favorite festive movie.  I mean how often do you get to do this?  So cool.

After doing the Very Merrytime Cruise a couple years ago, I wasn’t sure if this sailing would be just as magical but it totally lived up to all my expectations and more.  I love them both equally as much and you can’t go wrong.  So what are you waiting for?  Start planning your next Disney Cruise now.
