4 MAGICAL WAYS TO SURPRISE YOUR KIDS WITH A DISNEY VACATION

What could possibly be better than taking a family trip to the most magical place on earth?  Try surprising them in a fun way that they are going on a Disney Vacation.  Just think of the excitement on their faces when they find out about their upcoming trip.  It can be almost as fun planning it too.  Here are some creative ways to reveal the big news and get some screams and lots of smiles.

LET THE BIG MOUSE DELIVER THE NEWS

This by far was my absolute favorite way to deliver the surprise.  I almost could not hold it in.  We planned this one weeks in advance by finding the Mickey costume, a person to wear the it, and creating a timeline of events.  On the big day, we rented the costume and bought the balloons then set back and video’d their reaction.  It was really awesome to see the smiles on their faces and my little guy so smitten with Mickey.  They danced, gave high fives, and took pictures with him before he headed back to Disney.  It was really magical and it all started with a mouse.

SURPRISE BREAKFAST

Set up a themed breakfast complete with Mickey pancakes or waffles to reveal your upcoming Disney vacation.  A couple years ago, we surprised the boys along with the help from our elf on the shelf that they were going on a Disney Cruise.  Our elf always arrives on or near December 1st, so it was perfect timing to reveal to them that we were going on a Verry Merrytime Cruise.  The Disney store had a ton of Christmas themed table decorations options including plates, mugs, and serving trays plus Zak Designs had Mickey ear cups that I could not do without.

MICKEY THEMED TREATS

Tell your kids that they are going on a trip of a lifetime with a fun themed treat like theses cupcakes from Halls Takes The Cake and Pretend Boarding Passes to the Disney parks or cruise.  What little kid wouldn’t love cupcakes??  They can have their cake and eat it too!

START A COUNTDOWN

Let your kids discover the big news by revealing a fun interactive countdown.   It could be as simple as a paper chain or a chalkboard display to creating a whole wall of activities and fun leading up to the big day!  Oh course, you know me.  Right?  I tend to make everything big.  So I completed a countdown on an entire wall in our kitchen with the theme from the UP movie.  Besides the meticulously put together 3D paper house from the movie, I inflated 30 balloons to pop one each day of the countdown.  Inside each balloon was a Disney themed activity from a Mickey inspired lunch or a pirate dinner to a fun craft.  Listed below was our complete list of activities on Mickey ear shaped paper but some of them might be a little dated.  Keep in mind that these do take some preparations in advance.  It is all so worth it in the End!
