DIY Giant Rainbow Paint Slip ‘N Slide

Go out with a bang!  Celebrate the last day of school in a way they will never forget.  Your kids have worked hard all year and now it is time for a fun filled summer.  What would be more fun than a giant rainbow paint slip ‘n slide?  Find out all the details to recreate your own just in time for the last day of school.

One word of caution…your kids will get messy!  Still in?  Great!

SUPPLY LIST

Here is the supply list that you will need.  Don’t worry, it won’t break the bank and you can likely get most of the supplies for less than $50.

* Washable Paint (we used tempera paint)

* Clear Plastic Sheeting (see photo below)

* Dollar Store Buckets

* 2x4x8 wood with pre-drilled holes in the ends

* Heavy Duty Medal Stakes

* Dollar Store Pool Noodles

* Landscaping Pins

* Optional Clear Water Balloons

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Roll together the 2×4 and clear plastic sheeting for the start, then anchor with metal stakes into the pre-drilled holes.
  2. Next wrap all the sides around pool noodles and secure with landscaping pins.
  3. Fill each bucket with paint and water.  We used about 16 ounces of paint in one bucket full.
  4. We also like to throw a little tear free body wash on the slide and get it wet first.  Then turn off the water.
  5. Dump all the buckets down at once and let the fun begin.  We will turn on the water in between the color buckets to extend the time of sliding.
  6. Have fun!!

Now this is optional but you could add in colored water balloons.  I fill each clear balloon with a little paint before filling it up with water. You will likely get remarks from your kids that this was the BEST DAY EVER!  One last tip is that the color will not likely come out of your swim suits or clothes so wear old clothes.  What is your favorite way to surprise your kids on the last day of school?

Welcome to Summer Kids!
