SUMMER BACKYARD MOVIE NIGHT AT HOME – FEATURING SCOOB

This summer seemed to fly right by and for some it may feel like it never really started.  2020 has been tough year for all of us.  So many fun activities were canceled like swimming pools, fairs and festivals, sporting events with no fans, and movie theaters.  Therefore, what better reason to do something special and say goodbye to summer than a movie night outdoors under the stars.

Throw a party for your family or a small group of neighbor friends.  A backyard movie night has been one of our favorite summertime activities.  Some of our movies featured is the past were The Incredibles, Wizard of Oz, and The Lorax.  This year, we decided on the new movie SCOOB.  The movie was just released on DVD and good for all ages.  Of course, we had to set up in style, but you really only need 6 essential things to host your next movie night.

Let’s Taco ‘Bout It: A Cinco de Mayo Party With Festive Cactus

Who’s ready for a fiesta? When Taco Tuesday falls on the same day as Cinco de Mayo, you have to celebrate! As a family, we always like to celebrate life to the fullest, but sometimes our busy lives get in the way. The current pandemic actually cleared our schedule and allowed for us to have the time to celebrate this year.

With our love of tacos, we have always wanted to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Although, I must admit that it was a little challenging to gather all the supplies. We decided last minute to have a celebration and due to COVID19 most of the stores were closed except for curbside service. With all the bright accents, tons of cactus, and a taco bar, we hope you find lots of inspiration for your next party.

May The 4th Star Wars Party Ideas

Calling all Star Wars fans! Do you celebrate Stars Day with your kids? We are huge Disney fans and recently started watching all the current Star Wars movies in order. It was actually the perfect time to binge-watch each one since we were on shelter in place orders due to the COVID19 pandemic.
It seems like May the 4th Star Wars Day is celebrated more and more each year. We had dressed up in Star Wars gear and posed for photos in the past but nothing too elaborate. Given the fact that we are living in a challenging time with the current pandemic, I decided that we needed more JOY in our lives. So we went for it!

There are tons and tons of crafts and activities that you can find on Pinterest or through organizations. We actually followed along with the planned activities from The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis like Yoda Yoga and creating your own critter from another galaxy.

We decided not to let the pandemic win!  The boys look forward to celebrating their birthdays every year and even in the midst of this new normal we wanted to make it special.  We just have to be a little creative.  The celebration must still go on and now more important than ever.

Easy Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread King Cake

Glow In The Dark New Year’s Eve Countdown Party

Any kid would love to stay up and welcome the New Year with a glow in the dark party!  You might even be considered the cool mom.  It’s the perfect party theme for passing the time until the ball drops.  We incorporated hourly activities to keep the boys entertained.  It worked out great because we all made it until midnight and had a blast doing it.

Rustic Woodland Christmas Table Decorations with Buffalo Check

Hosting a large family dinner doesn’t have to be complicated.  Every year we host my husband’s side of the family for a Christmas dinner.  Since we have small children, it is easier for us to host and not have to travel.  I take much joy in setting the table for dinner and adding in all the details.  Much more than the actual cooking part.  This buffalo check woodland table decorations has to be my favorite so far.  I have a tinsy obsession with buffalo check.
